If you’ve ever spent the summer in Toronto and the GTA, you know that air conditioning is a necessity. You might not need it every night, but there are always a few weeks where the humidity can make it very uncomfortable. That’s why it’s important to know which air conditioning system options are available to you. Take a look below at the big 3 options (in no particular order of course).
Air Conditioning System 1: Central Air Conditioning
One of the big options available is central air conditioning. This is usually in the form of an outdoor unit that produces colder air to be distributed throughout the home via a duct system. While this option can be an excellent way to cool a residence or office, it does rely on a duct system in order to be effective. Without one, installation can get quite expensive.
Air Conditioning System 2: Room Air Conditioning
We’ve all seen this option before in apartments. It’s usually a single unit that hangs out of a window pulling in air from outside, cooling it, and distributing it to a given room. These types of air conditioning systems can be effective for a small space, but only if installed correctly.
Air Conditioning System 3: Ductless Air Conditioning
A ductless air conditioning system is a nice in-between option. It relies on the same principles as the room air conditioning but with an extra step. There is an indoor panel that distributes the cold air, while an outdoor condenser pulls in air and feeds it to the indoor unit. This can be a subtle design and perfect cooling a given area of a well insulated home. Bigger homes may require more than one unit and should be assessed by a professional.
